Child Psychology & Therapy
in Robina, Gold Coast

Gentle, Supportive Therapy for
Children aged 5–9

At Divergent Minds Therapy, we understand that childhood can come with big emotions, changing friendships, school pressures, and experiences that can sometimes feel difficult to navigate alone.

Our clinicians provide a warm, neuroaffirming, and supportive space where children can feel safe, understood, and empowered to express themselves in ways that feel comfortable for them.

We work collaboratively with children and their families to support emotional wellbeing, confidence, connection, and everyday functioning in ways that feel respectful and tailored to each child’s unique needs.

Appointments currently available with Bárbara, Provisional Psychologist.

Bárbara provides warm, person-centred therapy for children aged 5–9. She supports children with a range of experiences, including Autism, ADHD and anxiety, and takes time to understand each child as an individual.

Her approach is compassionate, playful and supportive, with a focus on emotional regulation, understanding big feelings, and building skills that can help children navigate everyday challenges. Her work draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches.

Children communicate differently - and that's okay.

Depending on the child's age, needs, and preferences, sessions may include:

Conversation and creative activities

Visual supports and storytelling

Building trust and emotional safety

Games and play-based engagement

Emotional skill-building

Self-understanding and confidence

We believe therapy should feel collaborative, safe, and free from judgement or pressure to fit a certain mould.

Parent & Caregiver Involvement

For many younger clients, therapy often begins with an initial parent session. This allows the clinician to better understand the child's experiences, strengths, and support needs before commencing direct sessions.

Parents and caregivers may also be involved throughout the process through collaborative discussions, support strategies, and ongoing communication where appropriate.

Neuroaffirming & Inclusive

At Divergent Minds Therapy, we are committed to providing affirming and inclusive support for neurodivergent children and families.

We recognise that every child experiences and interacts with the world differently. Our approach focuses on understanding each child’s individual needs, communication style, strengths, and experiences rather than encouraging children to mask or change who they are.

We aim to create a space where children feel respected, supported, and safe to show up as themselves.

Appointments, Referrals & Fees

We welcome enquiries from parents and caregivers of children aged 5–9 at our Robina clinic. Self-referrals are welcome, and you don’t need to have everything worked out before getting in touch. We’re happy to answer your questions and help you understand the next steps.

Fees and rebate eligibility depend on the practitioner you see. Sessions with a Provisional Psychologist are not eligible for Medicare or private health insurance rebates.

Sessions with Bárbara Reis are $180 for an initial 50-minute session and $160 for ongoing 50-minute sessions.

NDIS-funded sessions with Bárbara are $156.16 for a 60-minute session, subject to applicable NDIS funding and requirements.
