Psychological Assessments for Children, Teens & Adults

Comprehensive diagnostic clarity to help your child or teen and adults thrive in life.

At Divergent Minds Therapy, our child and adolescent focus ensures that assessments are a supportive tool to understand how a young person's brain works, highlighting their unique strengths and learning needs. These assessments provide essential diagnostic clarity—such as for ADHD, Autism, or Learning Differences—that leads to deeper self-understanding for children, teens, and adults alike, ensuring every individual has a roadmap to thrive at school, work, and in their personal lives.

We offer child and adolescent psychological assessments to support families seeking diagnostic clarity and guidance for school and everyday life.

We currently offer:

  • Autism assessments

  • ADHD assessments

  • Learning assessments (including dyslexia)

  • Cognitive assessments

Our Expertise

We specialize in comprehensive evaluations tailored to provide clarity for school, home, and life:

  1. Autism Assessments: Autism assessments are designed to better understand social communication differences, behavioural patterns, and sensory experiences. Assessments are conducted in a supportive, developmentally appropriate manner.

  2. ADHD Assessments: ADHD assessments explore attention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and executive functioning. These assessments can help explain challenges with focus, behaviour, and emotional regulation at home, school and work.

  3. Learning Assessments (Including Dyslexia): Learning assessments support children and teens experiencing difficulties with reading, writing, memory, processing speed, or academic progress.

  4. Cognitive Assessments: Cognitive assessments help identify learning strengths and challenges and provide insight into how a child processes information.

Supporting School-Related Concerns

Our assessments can help:
  • Clarify why a child is struggling with learning or attention

  • Identify learning differences or neurodevelopmental conditions

  • Provide clear recommendations to support your child at school

  • Assist parents in advocating for appropriate educational adjustments

Gaining Diagnostic Clarity

A psychological assessment can help you better understand:

  • Your child’s strengths and challenges

  • Whether learning, attention, or developmental differences are present

  • What supports may be helpful at home and school

Feedback is provided in a clear and supportive way, with practical recommendations.

What is the Assessment Process at Divergent Minds Therapy?

For Children & Adolescents:

  1. Initial Session: The process begins with a session for parents, where the psychologist gathers a full developmental history and discuss the reason for the assessment.

  2. Compulsory Child Session: This allows the psychologist to meet the child, determine if an assessment is needed, and explain the process in an age-appropriate manner.

  3. Testing: If recommended, the psychologist sends out necessary questionnaires, and the formal assessment is booked.

  4. Feedback: Once completed, we hold a compulsory feedback session with parents to explain results and any applicable diagnosis. A separate session is held with the child to help them understand their diagnosis and how it influences their academics and home life.

For adults:

We provide a streamlined version of the above, including an initial developmental background interview, questionnaires, and a final feedback session to provide clarity around next steps.

Looking for therapy rather than testing?
