Therapy for Kids
Gentle, Supportive Therapy
for Children
At Divergent Minds Therapy, we understand that childhood can come with big emotions, changing friendships, school pressures, and experiences that can sometimes feel difficult to navigate alone.
Our clinicians provide a warm, neuroaffirming, and supportive space where children can feel safe, understood, and empowered to express themselves in ways that feel comfortable for them.
We work collaboratively with children and their families to support emotional wellbeing, confidence, connection, and everyday functioning in ways that feel respectful and tailored to each child’s unique needs.

Every child is different - and therapy should be too.
Our clinicians work collaboratively with children and their families to support emotional wellbeing, confidence, connection, and everyday functioning in ways that feel respectful and tailored to each child's unique needs.
We support children experiencing challenges related to:
Anxiety & big emotions: Stress, worry, emotional regulation, and expressing feelings
Confidence & self-esteem: Self-worth, body image, and building a positive sense of self
Family & life changes: Overwhelm, burnout, and navigating difficult transitions
Friendships & school: Social connection, peer relationships, and school experiences
Neurodivergent experiences: Including Autism and ADHD — affirming and inclusive support
Self-understanding: Building coping skills and confidence to navigate everyday life

Children communicate differently - and that's okay.
Depending on the child's age, needs, and preferences, sessions may include:
Conversation and creative activities
Visual supports and storytelling
Building trust and emotional safety
Games and play-based engagement
Emotional skill-building
Self-understanding and confidence
We believe therapy should feel collaborative, safe, and free from judgement or pressure to fit a certain mould.
Parent & Caregiver Involvement
For many younger clients, therapy often begins with an initial parent session. This allows the clinician to better understand the child's experiences, strengths, and support needs before commencing direct sessions.
Parents and caregivers may also be involved throughout the process through collaborative discussions, support strategies, and ongoing communication where appropriate.
Neuroaffirming & Inclusive
At Divergent Minds Therapy, we are committed to providing affirming and inclusive support for neurodivergent children and families.
We recognise that every child experiences and interacts with the world differently. Our approach focuses on understanding each child’s individual needs, communication style, strengths, and experiences rather than encouraging children to mask or change who they are.
We aim to create a space where children feel respected, supported, and safe to show up as themselves.
